Pros: Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina and also reduces stress and tension
Cons: it has also proved to be harmful if not worked out properly and according to the need of an individual
The benefit of yoga practice goes far beyond the actual time you spend in the poses for living healthy. One of the most general reasons why people have begun turning to yoga is to improve their health and well-being. Yoga means coming together. It is a unification of the mind; body and breath, so all aspects of your life are affected by your practice. A major benefit of yoga is physical. Yoga improves your flexibility. The stretching which you do in during every practice session helps extend and stretch muscles, which helps reduce the risk of injuries. More and more athletes are turning to yoga as a supplementary exercise routine to fix the imbalance in their body and to improve their performance in their chosen field of sport.
It doesn’t matter if you are a cricketer, basketball, tennis, or football player, the mind body relationship in yoga is an essential element in producing peak performance.

i somewhat disagree with jazz4u, yoga is good for internal and external diseases too. with regular yoga skin diseases can be cure.

i have start doing yoga and it has helped me a lot. its keeps me fresh and fit through out the day and one thing i would like to share that i am a chain smoker and i used to smoke 30 to 40 cigarettes daily. i want to quit this habit but i was just not able to do it. But today i have reduced my capacity of smoking to 10 to 15 daily. Is this because of yoga i dont know.....

I never tried any yoga until a year ago when my friend invited me to one of the training camp near my city - I loved it! I enjoyed a lot and it helped me to stay fit and fresh through out the day... :)
